Man gets 13 years for raping daughter

A Saudi court sentenced a local man for 13 years in jail more than 2,000 lashes with the whip after he was convicted of raping his teen age daughter for nearly four years, a newspaper said on Monday.

Sharq said the man, an alcoholic and drug addict, had been caught red handed with his raped daughter and told police he had done so in retaliation for her “obscene” relations with other men.

The girl’s uncle, her mother’s brother, had informed the police that he suspected her father had been raping her and threatening her against reporting him.

“The court sentenced him to 13 years in prison and 2,080 lashes although his wife had demanded death punishment,” the Arabic language daily said in a report from the Western town of Makkah.
