Thief repents after 7 years; pays for theft

A Saudi man who stole a large power cable from a farm in the Gulf Kingdom sent money to farm owners, telling them he was sorry nearly seven years after the theft.

The farm owner Abed bin Abdullah said he was with family at his far in the northwestern town of Jouf when he received an envelope from an unknown person.

“When I opened the letter, I was surprised to read that it was from a man saying he stole a power cable from our farm while he was buying fodder from us seven years ago,” he said, quoted by Sabq Arabic language daily.

He said the man, who did not identify himself, sent SR1,000 (Dh1,000)and apologized for such an act, adding that he asked the family to forgive him.

“It was a noble act by this man…we decided to donate the money he sent to the poor in the name of my father who was alive when the cable disappeared.”

 

Man dies while playing football


A 38-year-old Egyptian man died while playing football with friends in Saudi Arabia and doctors said he had a heart attack.

The unnamed man started to sweat heavily before he fell unconscious in the field in the northwestern town of Tabuk, newspapers said.

He was rushed to hospital by an ambulance but doctors said he was dead when he was admitted.
