Two men rob family after road accident

Two men who happened to witness an accident on Abu Dhabi road stopped their car and rushed to the overturned vehicle.

Instead of helping the injured family of five, they robbed them.

The Arab man, his wife and three sons were in their car on a motorway when he lost control over his vehicle.

The five were injured after the car veered off the road and overturned. They were taken to hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

After he was discharged from hospital, the victim went straight to the police and reported about the theft. He said two men stole Dh13000 from his purse, three mobile phones and jewellery just after the accident.

Using special tracking systems, police managed to identify the thieves using the stolen mobile phones.

The two were arrested and a court later sentenced them to one year in prison before it was reduced to six months by Court of Appeal.
