Authorities in Orange County say a 71-year-old man has been arrested and charged with the rape of one 10-year-old girl, committing lewd acts with another and possessing pornographic photos of more than a dozen young girls.
Police and prosecutors said in a statement that Donald Ray Shipley was charged Wednesday with four counts and a sentencing enhancement including forcible lewd acts on a child under 14. He was being held on $1 million awaiting a Thursday arraignment. It is not clear if he has hired an attorney.
Police detectives say Shipley raped the first girl in 2008 when she came to visit a young relative of Shipley's at his home. She later reported him.
Detectives say the other girl was sexually abused in 2009 and was identified through Shipley's photographs.
