'Poor' mom dumps baby in sewage

A woman in Gauteng, SA, has been arrested for dumping her newborn into a dirty stream of sewage.

The incident came to light when her boyfriend suspected something fishy as he observed her big tummy was missing, according to newsbite.it, which quoted a DailySun report.

He asked his Zimbabwean girlfriend why she no longer had a big tummy and she refused to answer. So he informed the community, who in turn informed cops.

The 23-year-old confessed to police that she put the baby in a bucket of water before throwing it into a dirty stream of sewage because she could not afford to buy clothes for the child.

Her boyfriend, meanwhile, said that he was lost why for financial reasons she killed his child as he was supporting their 20-month-old child and this baby would also have survived.
