Moroccan maid jumps to death and kills saviour

A teenage Moroccan housemaid in the north African Arab country jumped to her death from a high-rise building to protest her mother’s decision to marry her.

A man who tried to hold her just before the impact died under her weight.

A one-minute YouTube film carried by newspapers in Morocco and other Arab countries showed the 16-year old girl leaping down from a high level in the building in the Western Atlantic port of Casablanca as a large crowd appeared watching in horror.

Newspapers said the unnamed girl had decided to end her life after learning that her mother was coming from another city to take her home and marry her to a man who she does not like.

The papers said a man who was standing in front of the building rushed to hold the girl before hitting the ground. “But she fell on him, causing his death because of her heavy weight,” a police source said, quoted by the papers.
