A man from Chile was charged for buying a newborn baby online from a woman for about $102.
The 18-year-old mother handed over the baby to the man after the hospital bills were cleared and she was handed over the princely sum of $102, reports Australia's news website.
The authorities started their investigation after the infant's real father filed a complaint claiming that his child had been kidnapped.
Meanwhile, the baby buyer had already registered the baby as his own.
The long arm of the law caught up with the baby buyer and the truth came out. The trial will start soon and both the baby buyer and the biological mother of the child are likely to be charged for child trafficking.
