Parents of Pakistani student Shahzeb Khan, who was murdered by the sons of wealthy families in Karachi last year, have pardoned the four culprits who were sentenced to death for the murder, Pakistani media reports said.

Quoting Shahzeb Khan’s parents'  lawyer Mehmood Alam Rizvi, the reports said that they have already filed an affidavit with the court to pardon the accused who belonged to one of Pakistan’s wealthiest families.

Shahrukh Jatoi, his accomplice Siraj Talpur and two others were sentenced to death by the Pakistani court for Shahzeb’s murder. The accused were convicted on June 7.

Shahzeb Khan’s mother Ambreen Aurangzeb told Dawn News that the death of Shahzeb’s killers will not bring back her son. “We may not have forgiven them in our hearts, but we have pardoned our son’s killers in the name of Allah,” she said.

“We cannot spend our entire lives in fear … we took the decision considering the circumstances,” she added.
