Son shoots mum dead during argument

A Saudi man opened fire at his mother after an argument, killing her instantly, before he was arrested in a police chase, a newspaper reported on Thursday.

The man, in his 30s, shot his 56-year-old mother three times in the chest at their house in the southern Asir province.

Sabq Arabic language daily said police later caught the man after a three-hour chase, adding that he already had a police record.

Mosque mobile phone thieves held in Saudi

Saudi police arrested four men, including two teen agers, who targeted worshippers at the Prophet’s Mosque to steal their mobile phones.

Policemen were deployed in the Mosque in the western town of Medina following repeated reports by the mosque visitors that their mobile handsets have been stolen while they were praying or performing other rites.

“We caught them red handed…two of them are teen age African boy and the other are Arab expatriates aged 22 and 27 years,” said Brigadier Mohammed Al Ahmadi, leader of the Prophet Mosque’s security force.

Maid tortures old crippled Saudi employer

An Ethiopian housemaid tortured her 85-year-old crippled Saudi employer by banging her head with her steel bed, slapping her and hitting her body against the wheel chair before she was arrested by the police, a newspaper reported on Thursday.

The Saudi woman’s son discovered the maid’s cruelty when he noticed the bruises on his mother, who had been reluctant to tell her son about the maid.

“When pressed by her son, his mother told him what happened…he called the police who arrested the maid…the maid confessed to the crime and to stealing jewelry from the man’s children,” Sabq daily said in a report from the Western Saudi town of Taif.
