Quick repairs for recalled cars

Auto dealers in Abu Dhabi are working fast to fix the cars recalled by major automobile brands, and consumers are satisfied with the results, the Ministry of Economy said yesterday.

Dr Hashim Al Nuaimi, Director of the Ministry's Consumer Protection Department, speaking to Emirates Business following a meeting with the auto dealers, said both sides agreed to meet within two weeks to discuss the work done and the problems facing the car dealers.

Al Nuaimi said the Ministry called the meeting of nine agencies, including Al Futtaim Motors, Bin Hamoodah Auto, Ali & Sons, Trading Enterprises and Al Masaood Automobiles, to co-ordinate the recall of faulty cars and developing the dealers' after-sales service.

The dealers have asked the Ministry of Economy for a second meeting to discuss problems facing the automobile sector in Abu Dhabi, said Al Nuaimi, calling on customers to stay in touch with their agencies to check about their cars.

The ministry has asked the dealers to periodically present detailed inventories of the number of recalled cars.
