Sheikh Mohammed attends forum on competitiveness

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, attended a lecture on 'Emirates Competitiveness' yesterday. It was organised by the Emirates Competitiveness Council at Yas Hotel in Abu Dhabi.

Renowned Professor Michael Porter delivered the lecture in the presence of ministers and more than 350 federal government employees from the first, second and third tiers.

Professor Porter dealt with the factors that affect competitiveness and its development as well as spreading awareness among government bodies about the importance of competitiveness among institutions, individuals and countries.

He said the UAE has the tools to develop competitiveness capabilities and enhance the relation between productivity and progress and increase productivity on competitiveness.

Sheikh Mohammed listened to the discussion between Porter and participants that focused on co-operation and co-ordination between the private and the government sectors

to achieve sustainable development. He highlighted the importance of stimulating the role of Emirates Competitiveness Council within and outside the UAE so as to achieve the objectives of the federal government's strategy which focuses on sustainable development.
