Worker denies assaulting mentally retarded boy

The Dubai Criminal Court is hearing the case of an Afghan man who allegedly sexually assaulted a mentally retarded boy.

GR, 25, the accused worker, was fixing up the bedroom of a house in Al Mizher on January 24. The boy was also present in the room and GR allegedly engaged in a sexual act with him. The mother came into the room and saw the two standing together in an embarrassing position. She also noticed specimen on the floor and wall.

She called police who arrested the worker. The specimen traces were sent for forensic examination and proved to be that of GR.

The prosecution asked the court to hand down the stiffest penalties to the accused as he had assaulted a mentally retarded person.

At the hearing, GR denied the charges and the court adjourned the case until July 14.
