Mirdiff City Centre attracts a million

More than a million people have visited Mirdiff City Centre, Majid Al Futtaim Properties' latest development, in the three weeks since its opening.

The Dh3 billion mall attracted 76,000 shoppers on the first day of trading, March 16. More than 85 per cent of the stores were open from day one.

"We always knew that the launch of Mirdiff City Centre would be big but to get more than a million customers in the first three weeks is quite exceptional," said Yousif Al Ali, the mall's Vice-President. "These numbers are a testament to the excellent retail mix, dining options and leisure attractions that Mirdiff City Centre offers."

New retailers at the centre include Pottery Barn, Miss Selfridge, American Eagle, Decathalon and Office Depot while anchor tenants include Debenhams, Home Centre, Emax, Forever 21 and an 11,000 sq m Carrefour.

Nicolas Allan, General Manager of the Carrefour store, said: "During the first five days alone more than 200,000 visitors came to the new Carrefour. Customers were greeted with a range of great promotions and more than 45,000 regular items." The building has a gross leasable area of 196,000 sq m and will house 430 stores.
