Movie mania throughout May

After a hectic week, there's nothing better than chilling out and watching a good movie. But if you don't fancy making it to the cinema, then why not relive some of last year's top releases with Showmovies 1, where a new blockbuster will premiere every Thursday of this month.

First up is Adam Sandler and Kevin James who star as best friends and fellow fire-fighters Chuck and Larry in the hilarious I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry.

In this comedy, showing this Thursday, Chuck owes Larry for saving his life, and so when Larry finds his pension at risk after losing his wife, he calls in that favour by asking Chuck to pose as his "domestic partner".

Obviously, everything doesn't go according to plan, and the two straight guys are forced to improvise as love-struck newlyweds when a fact-checking bureaucrat becomes suspicious.

They enlist the help of a gorgeous lawyer, played by Jessica Biel, to help them with their situation. But will Chuck be able to stay quiet?

May 21 plays host to the film of the same name, 21, starring Jim Sturgess, Kevin Spacey and Kate Bosworth.

Based on a true story, 21 tells the story about six American students who were trained to become experts in card counting and subsequently take Las Vegas casinos for millions in winnings.

And finally, on May 28, Robert Downey Jr stars as hero-in-disguise Tony Stark in Iron Man.

Stark is a billionaire industrialist and genius inventor who is kidnapped and forced to build a devastating weapon. Instead, using his intelligence and ingenuity, he decides to build a high-tech suit of armour and escapes captivity.

When he uncovers a nefarious plot with global implications, he dons his powerful armour and vows to protect the world as Iron Man.

Gwyneth Paltrow stars as Stark's assistant-slash-love interest, Pepper Potts.
