Whenever disaster strikes, Bollywood stars instantly take to social media platforms to post/tweet their displeasure, but whether their words actually make a difference we don't know.

But, we do know of a few stars who are unwilling to pay mere lip-service and are ready to step out to set things right.

They are ace filmmaker Farhan Akhtar and iconic stars Shah Rukh Khan and Preity Zinta.

Following the recent brutality meted against a five-year-old, Farhan Akhtar has kicked-off a campaign called MARD.

It literally means 'man' in Hindi and, in this case, the acronym stands for 'Men Against Rape and Discrimination'.

The promo of the campaign, which aims is to sensitise men about the safety of women, was filmed on SRK and Preity and also features Akhtar himself.

Akhtar hopes Indian men will sport the campaign logo on their clothes and spread the message.

He recently tweeted an image of SRK shooting for the promo. In the image, SRK can be seen sporting what can be loosely termed as a handlebar moustache.

He tweeted, "A behind the scene glimpse of @iamsrk shooting the 26/4 #MARD initiative match promo."

Akhtar will flag-off the campaign on April 26 at 7pm, India time, when SRK's team Kolkata Knight Riders will take on Preity Zinta's Kings XI Punjab at Kolkata's Eden Gardens stadium.

Farhan's campaign workers will distribute 70,000 fake moustaches during the IPL 6 match in Kolkata.

Farhan also wrote a touching poem and posted it on Twitter.

This poem comes in the wake of the rape of the five-year-old, which has brought the citizens of the country out on the streets to protest against the establishment that has been so far unable to curb the growing rate of sexual crime.

I see you little girl
tears in your eyes
bruises on your body
blood on your thighs

I hear you little girl
your whimpers your cries
your silenced protest
your resonating sighs

I feel you little girl
your pain on the rise
your trust of man in ruins
your childhood's demise

I understand you little girl
your rage your surprise
your confusion about the beast
in human disguise

I stand with you little girl
to seek justice, to chastise
the devil that defiled you
i swear, will find no allies.
