'American Idol' suicide scare after cryptic Facebook message

Police say ‘American Idol’ Season 2 finalist Josh Gracin is safe after he a cryptic Facebook message in which he seemed prepared to take his own life.

Police in Spring Hills, Tenn., said they checked on Gracin on Thursday at the request of his family, and determined he was not in danger.
"We received a call of a welfare check," Lt. Justin Whitwell told TheWrap. "His family called it in. We responded to his residence and through investigation the family was able to locate him. He was on his way back home and he was safe."

A post on his Facebook page saved by the site TasteofCountry described relationship troubles and concluded, "Please remember me as someone who gave his all in his music... Pray for my family as they carry on in this world without me. Goodbye."

Later, a new message appeared:  "Good evening everyone. This is Josh's manager, Amy. First, thank you everyone for your prayers and concern. Josh is safe and with his family now. We ask that you please respect their privacy during this time and continue sending your well wishes. I promise to update you soon."

A subsequent message said Gracin would not be appearing as scheduled at a Friday show in Charleston, W. Va.
Gracin, 33, finished fourth on ‘Idol’.

The former Marine released his self-titled debut album in 2004. His singles include "Nothin' to Lose" and the recent ‘Drink It Gone’.
