Boxing champion Amir Khan is in the throes of growing up from a pin-up boy for the hardest game - becoming a family man.

Khan’s wife Faryal gave birth to their first child, Lamysa Khan, today (May 23) morning and he is seriously taking the change in lifestyle which comes with being a father.

The former two-time world champion announced the good news on social media.

He posted a message on Twitter: "Faryal and I are delighted to announce the birth our first child Lamysa Khan everyone doing very well, thank you for all your wishes."

His varified Facebook page updated: "Congratulations to Amir Khan and Wife Faryal on the arrival of their beautiful baby girl this morning".

The 27-year-old is letting his wife pick the name of their daughter and joked that she already takes after her father.

This good news comes as the Bolton boxer has been embroiled in lurid headlines about his private life.

There have been serious allegations about the pugilist cheating on pregnant wife Faryal Makhdoom.

Reports also surfaced that Faryal took the matter to her hand and confronted two girls he spent time with — and asked point blank: “Did you sleep with my husband?”

She had read enough news snippets about husband fooling around behind her back and wanted to deal with it herself.

Amir's playboy image has never been the over-riding reality of this most likeable young man.

But for the first time Amir is ready to make adjustments in life. This brings out a different, endearing dimension to the boy who thrilled Britain when he won silver at the Athens Olympics ten years ago.
