The 'Monuments Men' actor is set to tie the knot with girlfriend Amal Alamuddin later this year, and his aunt thinks his close friend and 'Burn After Reading' co-star will be by his side to offer support at the ceremony

Starla Clooney said: "I would say he'd choose Brad Pitt for his best man. They are good friends, I would think that's who he'd choose."

Starla - who works as a non-denominational minister - also confirmed her nephew is planning to marry the 36-year-old lawyer in Italy, with his parents Nick and Nina Clooney planning a trip to Europe to help with the preparations.

She told MailOnline: "I did hear Cincinnati, since it's not that far from Kentucky - that's one of the places they were considering - but apparently Cincinnati didn't win, it's not going to be the place.

"I do know that Nick and Nina are planning a trip over to Italy in the next week or so to, I guess, scope out some stuff."

However, she offered her own services to preside over a local ceremony if the couple decide to have another wedding for those family members who can't travel.

She added: "Sure, I'd do it in a heartbeat!"

Meanwhile, several members of George's extended family were left disappointed after Amal missed his annual family reunion in Maysville, Kentucky, because she was working in London.

Ben Breslin, 55, a cousin of George's, who hosted a big party on Saturday night, said: "When he came in the front door, I was looking around asking 'Where is she?'

"He explained she's a lawyer and apparently she's across the sea somewhere working on a case, off saving the world. It was a shame because I would have liked to have met her."

Clooney's Amal surprise

George Clooney's cousin Miguel Ferrer says his family were all "surprised" to learn he had got engaged to Amal Alamuddin.

The 'Monuments Men' actor - who famously declared he would never marry again - proposed to lawyer Amal Alamuddin in April, and his relatives were as shocked as his fans about the happy news.

George's cousin Miguel Ferrer - who is the son of Oscar-winning actor José Ferrer and singer Rosemary Clooney - told Fance's Tele Star magazine: "At first the family was surprised to learn the happy [engagement] news."

The 59-year-old actor went on to praise Amal as a "wonderful woman" but refused to be drawn on the details of their wedding, which is expected to take place in September.

He said: "I don't know if I can tell you a lot about this marriage. Obviously I'll be there!"

It was recently claimed 53-year-old George - who was previously married to Talia Balsam from 1989 to 1993 - and his British fiancee are planning to marry in Venice, Italy after deciding against holding their wedding at his Lake Como estate because they felt it wasn't private enough.

A source said recently: "George and Amal want to be married in Italy, but they need a location that offers them and their guests privacy."

George - who also didn't want to inconvenience his Lake Como neighbours with the attention his wedding would bring - and Amal were seen dining in Venice a few weeks ago after touring wedding venues and are said to be planning to marry at a palace in the city.

Mel B's ex-husband: I wanted to kill myself

Mel B's ex-husband claims their rows over the custody of their daughter Phoenix Chi made him want to commit suicide.

The former Spice Girls singer split from Jimmy Gulzar in 2000 after just two years of marriage, and he admits the subsequent disputes they had over the custody of their daughter Phoenix, now 15, were so bad, he considered taking an overdose.

He told The Sun newspaper: "There's been many a time when I thought, 'Nope, this is it, I'm giving up. I am gonna take this bunch of pills and goodbye people, because this is too heavy."

Jimmy - who met Mel when he was a backing dancer for the Spice Girls - admits he is still desperate for his former wife to get her comeuppance.

Talking about his difficult relationship with the 39-year-old star, Dutch-born Jimmy said: "I always think about Goliath facing David, that story is pretty much how I have always felt.

"I am still waiting to throw that one rock that will get Goliath down."

Following their divorce, Jimmy moved to America to be nearer his daughter as Mel's career took off over the pond.

But it wasn't easy for the family and Phoenix filed a battery report with police in 2011, after Jimmy refused to let her leave after his custodial time with her.

Mel, who has just joined the judging panel of UK TV show 'The X Factor', is now married to Stephen Belafonte and the couple have two-year-old daughter, Madison together, as well as raising her seven-year-old daughter Angel - whose father is Eddie Murphy - and his eight-year-old girl Giselle.
