Aishwarya Rai Bachchan led the fashion and glamour stakes at the Dubai World Cup.

After intense speculation that the new mother and her 4-month old daughter Aaradhya were to make their first overseas trip together after the birth for the Dubai event, Ash did not disappoint.

During the Most Elegant Lady presentation ceremony Aishwarya said: "I am delighted to be here and see such finely dressed women in their hats and beautiful dresses,"

There was, however, and not surprisingly no sign of the baby, though little Aaradhya is here with her mother in Dubai. Ash's hubby, Bollywood star Abhishek Bachchan was also not present.

At the event she was the perfect picture of style, elegance and womanhood.

Draped in bright orange traditional outfit by Indian designer Sabyasachi, Ash greeted the world in a very 'Miss World' style - with a namaskar (folded hands).

Her suit studded with shimmering gold, complimented the golden sandals on her feet.

The soft auburn wavy hair did justice to the baby flab on her face.

Ash was present as Brand Ambassador of watch company Longines and presented the award to the Most Elegant Dressed Lady at the event.

The Longines watch awarded was designed in steel and rose gold displays a silvered dial which has a diameter of 26 mm. It is fitted with a steel and rose gold bracelet with folding safety clasp.

In the stand all heads turned towards Aishwarya and among the bevvies of glammed-up woman present all wondered about how this former Miss World and once holder of the unofficial title of Most Beautiful Woman in the World was handling her post-pregnancy weight.
