Amidst all the family drama, overtly expensive sets and over the top mother-in-law, daughter-in-law feud there is always a love story blooming on Indian television serials.

These small screen love stories make audiences go weak on their knees and sometimes even the reel lover's romance get real.

And it's the crackling chemistry that also determines the popularity of the serials and the leading pair. We take a look at some of the popular television romances that the audiences gave their thumbs up...

'Pavitra Rishta': The love story that won a million hearts through sheer innocence later saw the chemistry of Manav and Archana scale to new heights. Their onscreen romance also graduated off-screen and the couple is soon to tie the knot in real life too!

Madhubala-Ek Ishq Ek Junoon: Film star RK went out to humiliate middle class Madhubala in a contractual marriage but eventually loses his heart. Na Bole Tum Na Maine Kuch Kaha: Opposites poles attract each other - which is precisely what happened with a journalist Mohan and widow Megha. The two initially hated each other but later could not live without their counterpart. There love story highlights innocence and some romance spiced up with some adorable quarrels.

Ek Hazaaron Mein Meri Behna Hai: the young couple Viren and Jeevika initially struggled to find time for each other but soon their intimate scenes managed to win the heart of the audience

Balika Vadhu: A village girl Anandi braved through child marriage, adulthood and adultery from husband. But finally after divorce and uplifting herself from the shackles of illiteracy Anandi discovers love in Shiv. Audience loves the sizzling chemistry which makes this couple so popular.
