Kangana's journey from girl next door to Bollywood's 'Queen'

Kangana Ranaut is hot property now. The actress just had a double whammy when her film 'Tanu Weds Manu Returns' hit the jackpot, not long after she celebrated the success of her National Award for her film 'Queen'.

Kangana feels happy that she has had success like this. "It has taken me a while. it has taken ten long years for me, but I got what I have been working for. It is a great feeling when you struggle to get what you aspire to get. I got the award for 'Fashion'. I got a great film like 'Tanu Weds Manu' and then the sequel as well and then the two national awards for Fashion," she says.

The actress clearly states that she did not realise the importance of the award earlier. "But I know now what getting a National Award means.

The actress also feels that the award and the subsequent success of 'Tanu Weds Manu Returns' has brought her family closer.

"A national award means a lot to my family, because I belong to a political family. My grandfather Sarju Singh Ranaut was a minister in the Himachal Pradesh Government. When I walked to to collect the National award from the President of India, my father's face was glowing. He really seemed to enjoy it," says the actress.

Kangana says that it was the very father who at one point of time never used to appreciate newer ideas. "He always used to make us quiet when we suggested something. He did not like kids and younger people giving advice. But now I hear that my parents have changed. They are telling people to make their children also independent and give them a free hand in what they do. It is a huge change in the way they are thinking. And to think that all this has happened because of my national award for the best actress," says the actress.

Kangana may have done two wedding films, but the actress is happy being single. "I like my single status. I was in a relationship before, but I do not talk about my relationships. When you are in a  relationship, there is some amount of excitement in it. But then there is a lot of fun staying single too," she smiles.
