Bollywood actor Ranbir Kapoor starrer 'Bombay Velvet' has failed to displace Deepika Padukone's heartwarming 'Piku'.

The rogue Ranbir could not stand a chance in front of the simple, dutiful daughter Deepika as box office figures suggest.

Anurag Kashyap's high-budget drama suffered "a debacle", "a disaster" and "A colossal flop" if we go by the verdict by trade analysts.

'Bombay Velvet' is set in the Bombay of the 1960s and is about a man who wants to make it big in life at any cost.

The film has earned a little over Rs.18 crore (INR) in in four days.

Released on May 15, the film, which also stars Anushka Sharma and has marked the acting debut of Karan Johar.

Trade expert Taran Adarsh called the film a 'debacle' on Twitter.

"Bad start for Bombay Velvet. 1st show at FunGwalior cancelled due to lack of audience. Velocity, two Inoxes in Indore report poor collections," trade analyst Komal Nahta wrote.

"Opening of disastrous Roy was better than BombayVelvet initial in C.I. Sad day for film industry," he continued.

The one film which has continued its success story is Shoojit Sircar's 'Piku', which has Amitabh Bachchan, Irrfan and Deepika Padukone.

'Piku' is running successfully at the cinemas, and has minted more than Rs.14 crore (INR) in its second weekend.

While the film has garnered plaudits from all quarters for being an endearing father-daughter tale, the success of 'Piku' is evident even internationally with the film registering a total collection Rs 27.35 crore overseas.

In fact, Adarsh has called Piku the "BIGGEST HIT of 2015 in Overseas".

Kangana Ranaut and R Madhavan-starrer 'Tanu Weds Manu Returns' will hit the theaters this weekend and 'Bombay Velvet's' fate will be decided.
