Tickets for the seventh Dubai International Film Festival go on sale on Wednesday, organisers said in a statement.

Since its inception, the festival has broken new ground with its programming and spawned a slew of similar events around the region.

For its seventh edition, it will feature diverse genres, geographies and subjects to offer a powerful array of biopics, horror, adventure, comedy and drama.

The award-winning new film from Academy Award-winning British director Danny Boyle, “127 Hours”, about a solo mountain climber forced to make tough decisions after being trapped under a boulder in Utah is among this year’s highlights. The Oscar-tipped film will open the festival on December 12.

Also on the schedule are Swedish mystery psycho-thriller “Corridor” (Isolerad), about a medical student whose peaceful life becomes jeopardized when he meets the girl upstairs and, shot in Barcelona by Mexican director Alejandro González Iñárritu and the Javier Bardem-starrer “Biutiful”, the story of a sensitive street criminal who discovers that his time is running out and struggles to leave something behind for his family.

Tickets will be sold at booths in Mall of the Emirates, Souk Madinat Jumeirah and the CNN Building in Dubai Media City. They can also be purchased through DIFF’s Dial-a-Ticket service at (04) 391 3378 and from the website dubaifilmfest.com.
