Two of the biggest names in the history of music in the Philippines will take centre stage when platinum selling rock king Bamboo and legendary band Rivermaya rock Dubai with a special double-header concert at the Dubai World Trade Centre on October 11.

Arguably the biggest star in Philippine pop and rock music and a hugely popular judge and coach on TV’s “The Voice of the Philippines”, Bamboo Manalac will bring his unique stage show performing his biggest hits, his own interpretations of a number of international songs and music from his highly-acclaimed solo album “No Water No Moon” such as singles “Questions” and “In This Life”.

Now a solo artist in his own right, in the past Bamboo has enjoyed spells as a front-man with his own eponymous band Bamboo as well as the band that will share the stage with him next month, Rivermaya.

Today he enjoys massive popularity thanks to his solo work and TV appearances on “The Voice” and the star will make a welcome return to Dubai for his biggest ever show in the UAE. As well as hits from his time as singer with both Bamboo the band and Rivermaya, the singer’s live shows are renowned for Bamboo’s own interpretations of songs by other established stars such as Ed Sheeran, Coldplay and Bruno Mars.

Making it a must-see concert for lovers of Original Pinoy Music, Bamboo’s former band Rivermaya will play live in Dubai for the first time in their 20-year history in a double headline concert organised by Pace Events in Dubai.

Comprising original member Mark Escueta on guitar/vocals as well as Norby David (bass/vocals), Ryan Peralta (drums) and Mike Elgar (guitar/vocals), Rivermaya will perform their biggest hits for the Dubai public for the very first time showcasing songs such as “Elesi”, “You’ll Be Safe Here” and “Himala”.

“There was a chance for us to come to Dubai in the past but it never materialised,” said Escueta. “We’re delighted that we will finally get the opportunity to play for our fans in the UAE as it is always exciting to visit new places and to meet so many Kabayans who are working away from home. We’re also looking forward to sharing the bill with our very good friend Bamboo.”

This week Rivermaya were short-listed in four categories in the 2013 PMPC Star Awards for Music with nominations for Rock Artist of the Year, Duo/Group Artist of the Year and both Rock Album of the Year and Album of the Year for their 2013 release “Panatang Makabanda”.

The special double-header concert will be staged in Zabeel Halls 1 and 2 of the Dubai World Trade Centre with doors opening at 5pm and the show starting at 8pm.

Tickets priced at Dh145 for standing and Dh245 for grandstand seating are on sale online at www.ticketmaster.ae, www.bambooindubai.com and www.rivermayaindubai.com as well as branches of Jacky’s Electronics in both Mall of the Emirates and Dubai Mall.
