Salman Khan goes 3D

Fans of Salman Khan are in for a special treat if the latest rumours emerging from tinseltown are to be believed.

Apparently, the “Ready” star will go three dimensional for his upcoming, “Sher Khan”, which is brother Sohail Khan’s pet project these days.

Sources close to the Khan brothers say that Sohail is keen on going 3D for this children’s fantasy adventure film, which will give the project an edge over the Shah Rukh Khan sci-fi flick, “Ra.One”, which is also scheduled to release the same day, October 25 in UAE cinemas.

In an interview with “Times of India”, Salman has confirmed that the brothers are toying with the idea, but he is unsure of the saleability of a 3D film in India.

He said: “As far as 3D goes, I am not sure. We are definitely thinking about it. However, 3D films have not worked in India and I am not too sure about its market.”

This technology is still at its grassroots level in India, with Vikram Bhatt’s “Haunted” (currently playing in UAE cinemas), being the country’s first next generation stereoscopic 3D film; and it doesn’t help that despite the technology, the film has been panned by critics.

Director Shirish Kunder’s “Joker”, starring Akshay Kumar is the next 3D film to be released.

Although we can’t speak for the above two films, catching Salman flexing his abs in 3D is sure to get screaming fans to the cinema in hordes.

Shakira shakes it for Bollywood

The Columbian singer, who wowed crowds last month in Abu Dhabi, is now all set to shine and shake her hips to Bollywood beats.

The news is that Shakira has been signed on for “Azaan”, which will be the launch pad for Sachin Joshi, son of Gutka baron, Jagdish Joshi.

Apparently, Salim-Suleiman, who recently collaborated with Lady Gaga for a desi twist to her “Born This Way”, will be bringing a Latino flavour to the track for Shakira.

In a recent press interview with 'Mid-day,' Sachin did confirm that an international artiste had been signed on for his Bollywood debut, but wouldn’t confirm if the “Waka Waka” singer was the item girl for his film.

For those not in the know, father Jagdish has already lost a lot of money attempting to launch his son way back in 2002 in Telugu language films.

The movies sank without a trace and all that the Sachin managed was an alleged affair with actress, Nagma.

Sachin’s Bollywood debut is being directed by, wait for it, Prashant Chadha who incidentally also launched Himesh Reshammiya’s acting career with “Aap Kaa Suroor”.

Sanjay Dutt set to reprise his Munnabhai avatar

The wait and speculation is finally over. The highly anticipated trilogy to the Munnabhai series is finally expected to hit the floors as early as next year. Shooting is expected to start mid-2012.

The news was confirmed by none other than Arshad Warsi, who plays Sanjay's sidekick Circuit in the series.

The actor spoke to “Hindustan Times” and said that the loosely titled project, “Munnabhai Chale Amrika” is all set to roll, with director/writer Raju Hirani already ready with a script, but was too busy with his film “Ferrari Ki Sawaari” to focus on the project.

Even producer Vidhu Vinod Chopra is allegedly busy polishing his movie, “Broken Horses.”

Coincidentally,  Warsi’s next few films are all film franchises, including “Double Dhamaal”, “Ishqiya 2” and “Golmaal 4”.

No sequel to “Main Khiladi Tu Anari” says Saif

Bollywood actor-producer Saif Ali Khan has broken many a heart by confirming that the sequel to his hit film “Main Khiladi Tu Anari” is not going to happen.

The 1994 comic caper that saw Khan play a superstar to Akshay Kumar’s cop was a runaway hit and launched many a pairing between the duo on celluloid.

In a recent press interview the actor denied any rumours of a reprisal, saying: “Actually, I was talking to somebody from the press, and we were talking about sequels becoming popular these days, and I remember when we did “Main Khiladi Tu Anari”, I don't know how many years ago, I had said, ‘We should make a sequel’.

Everybody said ‘No, how can you make the sequels, it's not a very good idea’.

“So then somebody asked would you make a sequel to “Main Khiladi Tu Anari” and I thought why not, we have been open to making it, but I don't think there is any such plans and I can probably for sure tell you that it won't happen.”

Currently Khan is busy shooting for his home production “Agent Vinod”, which co-stars his real life lady love, Kareena Kapoor.
