‘Switch’ over Tom Cruise. It’s time for the Chinese special agent to take over the ‘Ghost Protocol’.

In a teaser of the most expensive Chinese language spy movie thriller made to date, Xiao Jinhan (Andy Lau) does a car stunt at the Atlantis, run down the private beach of the Burj Al Arab, cruises in a high-speed boat off Dubai Marina and takes a plunge from the 828-metre-high Burj Khalifa.

‘Switch’ is a story involving special agent Xiao Jinhan (Andy Lau) and insurance company employee Lin Yuyan (Zhang Jingchu) on a mission to protect the world-famous drawing "Fu Chun Shan Ju Tu", which is the target of a Japanese gangster (Tong Dawei).

On their website, Filmworks Film Production, a Dubai-based company, says it managed to get Burj Al Arab, Burj Khalifa, Atlantis and Emirates Towers all into the same film.

The company claims it is responsible for opening the region to the international facilitation of commercials and feature films leading to a continual stream of productions now being shot within the UAE, and attracting films like ‘Syriana’ and ‘Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol’ to Dubai, as well as ‘The Kingdom’ and ‘Djinn’ to Abu Dhabi.

Although ‘Switch’ was due for release across China on November 2, Beijing News has reported it won't hit the theaters until 2013.
Director Sun Jianjun was quoted saying, Chuck Comisky, the 3D vision effects director of the movie, was unsatisfied with the special effects.

“There are 1,200 special effect shots. Four hundred of them were returned by Comisky. So we won't finish the movie within the year. But we can make it in early 2013."

Emaar Properties, Jumeirah Group and Filmworks have yet respond to queries from 'Emirates24|7' about the film.
