Barely a week after Lady Gaga pronounced her upcoming album as “utter liberation” and the “absolute greatest work I’ve ever done”, more details of the project have emerged.

"It's going to be shocking, shocking, shocking!" trills her producer, RedOne, in an interview with Billboard.com. "You never want to go too far from your brand — people love you for a reason. But we still want to give them something with a kick, something that makes them say, 'Oh my God! We didn't expect this!'"

RedOne (aka Nadir Khayat) confirms that he has worked with Gaga on two tracks and describes both of them as "massive" hits-to-be. The Moroccan/Swedish master mixer is responsible for several top Gaga tunes, including "Just Dance," "LoveGame," "Poker Face," "Bad Romance" and "Alejandro."

"When you heard 'Bad Romance' after 'Poker Face,' it was like the best thing you've ever heard," he said. "We want that type of reaction. I think that's part of my job and her job – to keep her evolving."

He also takes credit for some of the newer names on the production credits this time around, although he refuses to name any of the others working on the album. But, as we all know now, David Bowie isn’t one of them.

"After 'Just Dance' and 'Poker Face,' 'Love Game' and 'Boys Boys Boys,' I got a sound out of her, and that made it easier for other producers," he says, though he remains mum on naming names. "Her sound is so defined that no matter what people can follow it. That sound belongs to her."

Gaga has built up a tremendous amount of interest in the forthcoming album – which isn’t due until next year!

She premiered one tune, “You and I” at Elton John’s White Tie and Tiara Ball earlier this summer, which predictably leaked onto YouTube and is already a show-stopping staple on her Monster Ball tour.
