Bollywood star Salman Khan’s surgery to treat the nerve disorder trigeminal neuralgia he suffers from has been successful.

And so has his latest film 'Bodyguard'. The film took 215 million rupees ($4.68 million) on Wednesday and 183 million rupees on Thursday, taking the two-day total to 398 million rupees, he said, using figures from studio Reliance Entertainment.

Sources inform that Salman was taken into the operation theatre Wednesday midnight, IST.

The operation took almost six to seven hours.

The disorder caused acute pain to his jaw and other parts of his face. He had been suffering for a long time and finally decided to undergo treatment.

Salman’s sister Alvira and his brother-in-law and director of his latest box office smash hit film ‘Bodyguard’, Atul Agnihotri, accompanied him to the USA.

Atul updated friends through email, saying, “Salman’s operation has been successful, and we are now praying for a speedy recovery.”

Taran Adarsh, film trade analyst and TV talk show host, told Deccan Chronicle, “I spoke with Salman. He is all right now and there is nothing to worry about. The doctor has given him one week bed rest. He is now taking rest. He is not sure when he will be returning to India but the last thing he said is that he is feeling better.”

Earlier, Adarsh had tweeted on micro blogging site Twitter, “He’s very happy with the mind-boggling box office figures of ‘Bodyguard’.”

Vikas, Salman’s secretary informs, “Bhai is fine now. There is nothing to worry about. It is a matter of joy for me as well as his family members and all his fans.” Incidentally, Salman had been a bit apprehensive about going in for surgery but a second opinion on the matter changed his mind. Once he recovers, Salman will shoot for Kabir Khan's 'Ek Tha Raja'.
