Insane stunt by action hero Jean Claude Van Damme

Published

It's not CGI, he's not photoshop-ped and yes he is 53. In the latest advert for Volvo, Jean Claude Van Damme shows why teenagers still have his pin ups, age be damned.

And, hold your breath, Van Damme did the stunt in one take and the entire shoot took just under 15 minutes.

Volvo Trucks' new commercial for their dynamic steering system - featuring Van Damme doing a full split while perched on two Volvo trucks' side mirrors - is downright insane and has become a YouTube sensation.

The commercial opens with a shot of Van Damme looking very zen and then progresses to a awe-inspiring stunt enough to put any dancer and MMA artist to shame.

In the voice over you can hear Van Damme saying, "I've had my ups and downs. My fair share of bumpy roads and heavy winds. That's what made me what I am today. Now I stand here before you. What you see is a body crafted to perfection. A pair of legs engineered to defy the laws of physics and a mindset to master the most epic of splits."

Anders Vilhelmsson, public relations manager for the Volvo Trucks brand, says the stunt is a 100 per cent real.

The action star did use safety equipment for the shoot which was done on an airstrip in Spain.
