Bollywood's much awaited film 'Heroine' had its first look launched amongst heavy fanfare.
The 'Heroine' Kareena Kapoor was the center of attraction as she hogged the limelight.
Kareena waxed eloquent about how her journey as an actress would not have been complete without Madhur's 'Heroine' and how she wanted to be a heroine even in her mother's womb.
All that self-adulation is fine till journalists were taken aback when Kareena called actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan 'old'.
Initially Aishwarya Rai was to play Kareena's role as lead but things didn't work out as Aishwarya got pregnant with Aaradhya.
Coming back to the launch, a journo asked Kareena how different the film would have come out if Ash was the lead instead of her.
Kareena was very nice initially, trying to shun Ash's topic, showering praises upon the actress.
But diplomacy is not what Kareena is famous for, so even after trying hard she blurted her heart out, "It is very unfair to compare us, we're from two different generations."
So, basically what Kareena is trying to say is she is the younger generation and Ash is old.
She may imply Aishwarya old, as being longer in the industry or by sheer age difference.
How old is Ash exactly?
Aishwarya Rai was born on November 1, 1973 and made her acting debut with Mani Ratnam's Tamil film 'Iruvar' in 1997.
Kareena Kapoor; born on September 21, 1980 faced the spotlight in 2000 with 'Refugee'.
If Kareena goes through these stats she will realise there's not really a big generation gap.
Is it because Aishwarya is married and had a baby girl last year which leads Kareena to think herself among the younger crop in the industry?
Well, in case Kareena forgot she has been engaged to get married to actor Saif Ali Khan for the past several years. And if reports are to be believed she was supposed to tie the knot this October but changed her mind yet again. Guess she doesn't want to be branded 'old'!
Different generation or not Aishwarya has solidified her position in the industry and filmmakers are waiting with bathed breath for her comeback.
The industry has a lot to offer for everyone and Kareena's platter looks full at the moment.
Her 'Heroine' is all set to release on September 21 and till then promotional events will keep her busy with media. Kareena will have to mark her jibes and trade cautiously.
Kareena Kapoor plays the protagonist in Madhur Bhandarkar's 'Heroine' which is about the rise and fall of an actor in the Indian film industry.
