Kareena Kapoor to sizzle with Salman in IPL 5

The much-awaited opening ceremony of the fifth season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) will be a grand spectacle, as Bollywood star Kareena Kapoor will perform on the big night.

Apart from Kareena, Bollywood biggies Salman Khan, Priyanka Chopra and Amitabh Bachchan, along with southern superstar Prabhu Deva — who is choreographing his own act — will also deliver power-packed acts at the event, to be held on April 3 in Chennai a day before the tournament begins.

Audiences will look forward to the bevy of celebrities and international singer Katy Perry’s participation at the IPL 2012 Opening night.

A performer of their caliber makes the occasion even more special for the players, organisers and fans.

Others who’ll be performing are Colonial Cousins — the band formed by singer Hariharan and singer-composer Leslie Lewis, and international artist Ravi Drums.

It will be a two-hour event. Choreographer Shiamak Davar is putting together the show, and Mudassar Khan will choreograph Salman’s performance.

Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan will also be a part of the opening ceremony on April 3 and is gearing up for the big day.

Amitabh Bachchan tweeted: "Asia Cup over soon and then IPL .. opening extravaganza in Chennai .. and yours truly a small part of it ...nervous as hell !!".

"They do the opening show of IPL a day before they play unlike other years .. its a separate performance at prestigious venue ..And yes the show will be on Sony ..meeting all the Captains and teams will be such an honor ..seen all of them on Tv, now personally".

Over the years IPL has become not just an annual cricketing event but an entire package of sports and entertainment. Each year fans see a deluge of celebrities supporting IPL as mere spectators, brand ambassadors, sponsors or team owners.
