51 year old Bollywood star Aamir Khan is at a controversial phase of his life. Everything he says now is being closely monitored. It is but obvious now that he is rather choosy and smarter about his words.

Aamir’s film Dangal is up for release soon and the actor who will be seen as a wrestling coach, essaying the real life role of Mahavir Phogat has been working hard to transform himself into a bulky man and then losing weight to shoot for the younger portions of his character. Ostensibly the weight transformation is far tougher than the histrionics required.

“I had put on a lot of weight for Dangal and I am losing weight now and am at the halfway mark now,” says the actor whose films like Ghajini, 3 Idiots, PK and Taare Zameen Par have all been runaway hits and reiterated the fact that the actor’s physical transformations are something that the media keeps writing about even in earlier films like Mangal Pandey, Dil Chahta Hai and Lagaan.

When Aamir played the older Mahavir Phogat he also had a grey hair and beard. Nw he is still growing his hair and beard, because the look for the younger character has not been decided and Aamir wants to look at all possible options.

“I am really not aware of what the final look of the character will be. I am just growing my moustache and beard and then we will have to take a call later on what suits best,” he says.

Having played a cricketer in the Dev Anand film Awwal Number, a cyclist in Mansoor Khan’s Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikander, a boxer in Vikram Bhatt’s Ghulam and a villager turned cricketer in Ashutosh Gowariker’s Lagaan, Aamir feels that wrestling is one of the safest sports for rivals as well. “It is a safe sport because under ordinary circumstances, wrestlers do not injure each other.  It is a fantastic sport as well and keeps one fit,” he opines.

The actor adds that the sport is more of a mind game. “It is a sport where one plays more mind games than the physicality of it. It is about defeating the other person mentally as well. One’s mind needs to be kept sharp all the while. You have to be mentally very strong and a sharp human being as well to be a wrestler.”

Meanwhile Aamir also denies rumours that the release date of his upcoming film Dangal directed by Nitesh Tiwari of Bhoothnath and Chillar Party fame has been shifted and he says that Santa will bring in Dangal this time around.

“Even I have heard rumours that the film is being shifted. However it is not true and we are releasing Dangal during Christmas,” he reaffirms.

The actor surely takes his time to get his films right. Veritably, the audience wants to then look at his films with a similar passion ensuring a good box office every time around for the Perfectionist Khan.
