What’s On Party in the Park is launching in Dubai Media City on November 14 as one of Dubai’s largest music and entertainment events.

Britpop icon and singer-songwriter Ashcroft, 43, rocketed to fame in the '90s as lead singer of The Verve, whose soaring violin-led track Bitter Sweet Symphony became a massive global hit in 1997.

The Verve split in 1999 and the Ivor Novello award winner released his first solo album, 'Alone with Everybody', which reached the number one spot and went platinum in the UK.

Having penned epic rock anthems such as Bitter Sweet Symphony, History, The Drugs Don’t Work, Lucky Man and A Song For The Lovers, Ashcroft's song writing credentials are bulletproof.

As a front man, he is renowned for his deeply emotional performances.

His talent has won him the respect of his peers as well as legions of devoted fans.

Noel Gallagher famously wrote the track Cast No Shadow about the singer, and Coldplay front man Chris Martin has described him as “the best singer in the world”.

Ashcroft also joins the critically acclaimed 'Freshlyground' on the line-up at Party in the Park at the Media City Amphitheatre.

Set to become a Dubai social calendar staple, the day long festival kicks off at 2pm and runs until midnight, with multiple stages.

The festival will also be the first of its kind to feature a famous Dubai brunch deck, hosted by McGettigan's with prime viewing position of the main stage.

Guests can also expect numerous food and drink outlets, brand activations and showcases from dance troupes, street performers and a pop-up village featuring local artisans.

As well as the What’s On main stage there will also be the Hype Clubhouse sponsored by Adidas, showcasing international guest DJs. Ten of the best underground clubs and DJs in the UAE such as Blue Marlin, Pacha and Superheroes will also join forces for a one of a kind event.

The festival is being held to celebrate the 35 anniversary of What’s On published by Motivate. Sister titles Hype, Hello! And Good are also involved with dedicated areas at the event.

Tickets are available in www.platinumlist.net and start with an early bird price of Dh295 ranging up to Dh1000 for VIP tickets.
