'Rockstar' Ranbir praises Shammi Kapoor

Shammi Kapoor was a rockstar in his own right. The film industry suffered a huge shock with the loss of this rockstar. But Bollywood has still not had enough of him as before departing, the star worked with his grandnephew Ranbir Kapoor in 'Rockstar'.

Turning nostalgic Ranbir says, "We all will miss Shammi Kapoor. I feel privileged and lucky to have shared screen space with him before he could leave for the heavenly abode. He was a fantastic actor; he had created his own style, standing apart from the Kapoors. His sincere efforts enabled him to sustain in the industry. Shammi Kapoor achieved a lot during his lifetime."

'Rockstar' is directed by Imtiaz Ali and it stars Nargis Fakhri as the female lead opposite Ranbir Kapoor. The film is set to release on 11th November.

Presently Ranbir is shooting for his much talked about film 'Barfee' in which the actor plays the character of a deaf boy named Murphy. However, Ranbir is not ready to divulge much information about his film. "I am learning sign language for 'Barfee'. The movie being yet under production, it would not be possible for me to give away many details about the story or my character," says the Kapoor boy.

'Barfee' also stars Priyanka Chopra and Ileana D'Cruz. And there were reports of a rife between Ranbir and Priyanka. Clearing the air Ranbir says, "It is nothing like that, I have no clue from where such news has come. In fact I feel it is a great pleasure to work with Priyanka, as an actor she is much focused. And if you want I will call her right away to confirm that there are no fights between us."

'Barfee' is being directed by Anurag Basu and will release early next year. Working with Anurag for the first time, Ranbir shares the experience. "I have watched Anurag's earlier movies and there is no doubt that he is an intelligent director. He has his own views and the presentation which he puts forth on the silver screen and that is what matters a lot.

Anurag may plan something different before hitting the sets but he unhesitatingly adds new stuff which might strike at that moment. Change for the better is always accepted by him and it may come even from his actors. He needs to be convinced for it though."

Ranbir Kapoor is a hardcore football fan and has decided to fly to Kolkata to watch his favourite player Lionel Messi play for Argentina in an international friendly match opposite Venezuela in September. "I adore football and have tied up with the Barcelona football club. Messi plays for that team so I had a chance to meet him then. He will be playing as the Argentine player, so I will be present in the stadium just like every other football fan," concludes Ranbir.
