Salman Khan acquitted of all charges in poaching case

Bollywood superstar Salman Khan can finally heave a sigh of relief amidst the burden of his ongoing legal troubles as the Rajasthan High Court acquitted the actor of any wrongdoing in the Blackbuck and Chinkara poaching cases.

Today’s verdict comes in wake of an appeal filed by Khan before the High Court, which had challenged a lower court’s verdict that had handed him one and five years’ imprisonment respectively, in the two cases.

Khan stood accused, along with seven others, in two separate incidents involving poaching dating back to September 1998 when the actor was shooting for the film, ‘Hum Saath Saath Hain’.

The spell of relief for the actor and his legion of fans did nothing to shield the disbelief and outcry that erupted on social media amongst critics, as the verdict was announced.

Several drew parallels to Khan’s other notorious court case, which sees the actor accused in a hit-and-run case dated back to 2002 that resulted in the death of one person and left four other injured when the actor’s SUV ran over the stairs of the American Express Laundry.

Tambramh Girl wrote a tongue‘n’cheek reply stating: “Just heard that in the next season of Sherlock, Holmes and Watson will be solving the Salman Khan-Blackbuck case.”

Fans, though, are jubilant with the verdict, with Umesh Sharma ‏tweeting: “Finally, justice has come out. Salman Khan found innocent. Salute to Indian judiciary.”

Similarly, Asad tweeted: “Really Very Happy For Salman Khan Bhaijaan. God Bless You. Be Happy Always and We Proud Of You.”

Meanwhile, Khan’s hit-and-run case saw the actor acquitted of all charges by the Bombay High Court on December 10, 2015, which set aside the sessions court’s May order that had sentenced him to a five-year imprisonment.

However, on July 5, the Supreme Court admitted a plea challenging Khan’s acquittal in the hit-and-run case.
