In a night full of surprises, Taylor Swift shocked the audience within minutes of the 2015 MTV Video Music Awards Sunday, crashing Nicki Minaj's opening number.

Alright, the 'Bad Blood' singer had everyone's attention and everyone heard her loud and clear - including what sounded like a fart - live on TV.

On Sunday night at the VMAs, Taylor Swift and her Squad Cabinet members introduced her new music video for 'Wildest Dreams.'

During the intro, a loud interrupting sound can be heard, and a lot of people are saying it's a fart. Here's the moment in question via BuzzFeed, who seem to be Team Fart:

Sure, Taylor looks kind of surprised and questioning, but that's her trademark. She always looks like that.

That sound could be literally anything in the world but social media thinks otherwise - the timing is the killer.

So many things happened at the right time to make you believe Taylor squeezed it easy - her crouching at the same time as the noise, the open-mouth reaction and the wince on Karlie Kloss' face who was right behind Taylor.

But TMZ (who else) had to find out the truth and carried out their investigation.

They reported that MTV says the noise was just a faulty microphone. MTV claims their mics are so directional there's absolutely no possibility of them picking up a fart that loudly.

In conclusion, let's hear no evil, smell no evil.
