Video: One Direction fan frenzy as tickets for Dubai concert on sale

It is a day (Mayy 22) for excited fans and weary parents, many of whom sacrificing their precious hours of sleep as they lined up in the early hours of Thursday to be one of the first few to grab tickets for the ‘One Direction’ Dubai concert.

Students, parents, office goers waited for hours to get their tickets at the Virgin Megastore, Dubai.

Many excited school going ‘Directioners’  lined up as early as 5am at Mall of Emirates to grab their tickets.

Dressed for school a student (requesting anonymity) told Emirates24|7, "I am so excited that I have been awake since 2am".

The serpentine queue leading to the Virgin store only meant that some of the girls might just miss their school.

"I don't know what to do, my school is at 7am and it's already 6 and the line is so long, but I have to buy the tickets today or else I won't get them", told an anxious looking student.

Parents playing chaperon to their teens and waited in the queue to book the tickets. One parent told Emirates24|7, "I was surprised to see the crowd, I somehow didn't expect the parking near Ski Dubai to be full."

The English-Irish pop boy band, comprising Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne and Louis Tomlinson, are bring their ‘On The Road Again’, world tour to The Sevens Stadium on April 4, 2015.

Tickets for the one-night only concert go on sale from today, with tickets starting at Dh250 for bronze, Dh300 for silver, Dh500 for gold and Dh1,000 for diamond, which will be a special fan pit right in front of the stage that would fit around 7,500 fans.

In Abu Dhabi Mall and The Villagio Mall in Doha also had people lined up in the early hours fort the ticketing booth to open from 8am.

Online buyers will have to wait until 10am for the tickets to be made available.

Organised by Done Events, the concert expects to draw 30,000 fans, with CEO Thomas Ovesen stating it was likely to beat even the crowd frenzy for last year’s Justin Beiber performance in Dubai.
