When Shah Rukh Khan and Zayn Malik broke the internet in India

With 12.7 million followers Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan is one of the most active and popular members of the social media network.

Shah Rukh always keeps his fans updated about his life. From posting pictures of his family, friends and even selfies at times, SRK also tweets about his personal life.

With more than 8,000 tweets and 12.7 million followers (as on April 29, 2015), SRK has always struck a chord with his fans bringing them closer to him, and to the person that he is off the silver screen.

The fact that over the last one year, he's added a whopping 5.4 million followers, at a growth rate of 75 % is a massive testament to his online charisma.

 
It's this charm that has helped make the most Retweeted Indian on Twitter. This selfie with Zayn Malik has seen it top 120,000 Retweets and counting.

Recently, when SRK was honoured at the 5th Asian Awards in London, the actor bumped into ex-One Direction member Zayn Malik.

Both SRK and Zayn, with over 27 million Twitter followers combined, were praised for their respective contributions towards Bollywood cinema and mainstream pop music at the awards ceremony.

The 49-year-old actor and Zayn Malik found time for a quick selfie at the dinner held after the ceremony. SRK tweeted, "This kid is so cool. May Allah bless him. Dinner time at the Asian Awards." 

Shah Rukh's selfie with Zayn Malik is officially the most retweeted photo in India.

The selfie also marked the first sign of activity on Zayn's Twitter account since he cleared rumours of cheating on his fiancée, Perrie Edwards, on March 18, 2015.

Clearly, the combined star power of Bollywood and pop music broke the internet in India.
