With Eid-al-Fitr just around the corner, doctors advise UAE residents to resist the urge to overeat and to gradually prepare their body to get back to eating after keeping their fast during the month of Ramadan.

Doctors at Dubai Health Authority’s Smart Clinic shared some tips and advice on how to maintain their health after Ramadan and answered the public’s questions on the topic via social media.

“I advise people to start their Eid with a cup of tea and a healthy light breakfast to gradually prepare their body for their new eating habit after Ramadan,” said Sitelbanat Makki Senior Clinical Dietician at Latifa Hospital.

Eid is a time where families get together and at these gatherings all kinds of sweets and juices are served, Makki advised the public to resist the urge to overeat and indulge in moderation.

As for those wishing to maintain the weight they lost during the holy month, Makki advised people to drink a cup of water before eating and after eating by an hour to feel full and eat less. She also advised the public to eat well-rounded healthy meals that contain proteins, vegetables and dairy.

To avoid getting bloated and suffering from other stomach problems because of changes in the eating habit she advised people to not sleep after eating directly and avoid fatty and fried foods.

Dr. Jalal Nafach Consultant Endocrinologist Dubai Diabetes Center advised diabetics to avoid drinking juices during Eid and opt for water instead.
