A fresh aftershock is causing alarm in Nicaragua's capital, sending thousands of people fleeing into the streets overnight.

The U.S. Geological Survey says the magnitude 5.1 quake occurred just before midnight Sunday, with an epicenter on the outskirts of Managua.

Government spokeswoman Rosario Murillo told local media two houses collapsed in Managua and five in nearby Ciudad Sandino, but there were no reported injuries or deaths.

A magnitude-4.4 temblor occurred a bit further away from Managua Sunday morning. They follow quakes of magnitude 6.6 on Friday and 6.1 on Thursday. The shaking has stirred memories of the 1972 earthquake that killed 10,000 people.
