Published

A Sri Lankan was arrested at the Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) in New Delhi for allegedly trying to travel with fake travel documents, Daily Mirror reported.

Acting on a tip off, the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) apprehended the Sri Lankan identified as one Marvin (24) after he had received the fake documents from one ST in a wash room in the Terminal-3 of the airport.

The passenger carrying travel documents in the name of ST was stopped on suspicion and was thoroughly interrogated at the international security hold area.

The surveillance and intelligence teams had simultaneously observed the CCTV footage as well.

“After detailed questioning, the said passenger revealed his actual name as Marvin, a businessman from Sri Lanka, who was given fake travelling documents to travel to Paris in the toilet by an agent named ST from Chennai,” CISF spokesman Hemendra Singh said.

Marvin faces various charges of cheating and travelling on false documents (sections of IPC) including provisions of the Foreigners Act, Singh said.

“Marvin was carrying French Passport No. 068Z68234 in the name of Subramaniam Thavas, but the photo of Marvin was affixed on the passport which was valid up to August 14, 2018,” he said.

While security agencies in Mumbai have been alerted to nab ST, the airport police and CISF are now on the lookout for the people who indulge in illegal act of forging vital documents like passports.
