'Photography Live' - the region's prominent international event for photography, videography and imaging industry - was opened by Mona Ghanem Al Marri, Director-General of the Government of Dubai Media Office today.

The event that will run until May 9 at the Dubai World Trade Centre, on day one, welcomed large number of photographers from all walks of life looking to hone their skills and trying out some of the industry’s most cutting-edge technology. The show offers a whole raft of new features, exhibitors, content programmes and product showcases.

The free to attend 'centre stage' seminar will be conducted on all three days. With topics covering social media, portraiture sessions, travel photography, and a host of others, the seminars appeal to photographers of all ages and skill sets. Confirmed speakers include Beno Sarazdic, Dany Eid and Wouter Kingma.

There are a host of interactive workshops designed to help amateur as well as professional photographers. Topics include: ‘Business School - Making Money from Photography’ by HIPA and Nikon Ambassador Martin Grahame-Dunn, ‘Getting the Best from Travel Photography’ and 'Crash Course in Lightroom’.

Other new features this year include a live Sony studio set-up with model and professional lights, where visitors are given a platform to try out what they have learnt from attending the seminars, with professionals on hand to help. There is also a Photographers’ Lounge for visitors to network with likeminded professionals and enthusiasts.

Canon has set up a 'Videography Zone' for visitors. The Zone will include dedicated areas for live capture, providing visitors with the opportunity to try a series of shooting scenarios and editing processes. Also, there will be live demonstrations including cinema and documentary shooting.

The Nikon School, a global initiative by Nikon, is back this year. Through a series of educational photography classes, Nikon-certified instructors, including Daniel Cheong, will help enhance the creative and technical skills of photographers by teaching them how to make the most of their DSLR cameras in a number of different situations.

“I think one of the key attractions this year is the amount of content and features we have on the show floor. We have tried to make sure that no matter what your experience level, there will be something for you to learn from, take away and try for yourself. We also have an astounding array of brands all showcasing the latest technologies and innovative products in the Middle East,” said Simon Young, Exhibition Manager, Photography LIVE.
