Joining the nation and its leadership in reaffirming the UAE’s solidarity to France in this moment of profound grief, the UAE paid a solemn tribute to the country and its people by draping Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building, with the colours of France’s national flag.

In line with the directives of the UAE leadership, at 9pm on Sunday, November 15, 2015, Burj Khalifa was enveloped in the blue, white and red colours of France’s national flag as a poignant tribute to the country. It also represented the UAE’s heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims.

Heading to France from UAE? Here's what you can expect

Michel Miraillet, French Ambassador to UAE, confirmed in statements to Al Ittihad newspaper that UAE citizens do not require a visa to enter France.

However, he added that “there are new procedures regarding security checks at all airports in France”.

Meanwhile, UAE nationals travelling to France do not need to visit the French Embassy or Consulates in the UAE.

He added that UAE nationals can travel to France as they have an exemption from the Schengen visa for EU countries.

Miraillet said that the current circumstances, given the Paris attacks which have left 129 people dead,  are exceptional and France has to impose strict security measures.

He added that the French Government has taken the decision to close its land border with its neighbours and that means anyone coming overland from any European country to France must undergo security checks.

He stressed that security checks at all French airports will be very strict.
