Car catches fire near Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road

Civil Defence spoke with Emirates 24|7 saying: “The fire broke out at 12.30pm in Sonapur, Al Ghusais at one of the warehouses. We still don’t know what has caused the fire. Our teams are on the scene.”

A large plume of smoke was spotted in Mirdiff, with eye witnesses reporting from as far as Sheikh Zayed Road.

Meanwhile, an eyewitness also reported a green sedan has caught fire, with Civil Defence teams arriving on the scene to put out the blaze.

The passer-by further added: “There were two passengers in the car, but they were luckily able to escape before the entire vehicle was gutted.”

It is still unclear what caused the fire.
