Dubai market wholesalers donate 1 million fruits to Ramadan tents

Dubai Municipality’s Assets Management Department has coordinated with fruit and vegetable wholesalers in Dubai and four charities - Dar Al-Ber Society, Dubai Charity Association, Beit Al-Khair Society, and the Red Crescent – to facilitate the donation of one million fruits.

These will be distributed among those fasting during the holy month of Ramadan.

Khalifa Hareb, department director, said fresh fruits will be delivered daily to the Ramadan tents.

He added the department has launched this initiative for workers, security guards and drivers staying in the dormitory of the municipality whose numbers are expected to reach 300 throughout the holy month.

The department is currently holding the annual celebration of the 'Ramadan Night Market' at the Hamriya market. The festivities include many activities, highlighted by a dedicated area for traditional dishes such as Luqaimat, Roqaq and Al-Khameer.

He added that 47 temporary stands have been set up to sell clothes, accessories, some international dishes, as well as phones and accessories and leather goods. Competitions and games for children are organized as well. The market opens after the Tarawih prayers and extends beyond midnight.
