Dubai Port aims to attract one million cruise tourists by 2020

Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, Chairman of DP World and Chairman of Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation, PCFC, has announced that the strategic vision for marine tourism is aimed at attracting a million maritime tourists by 2020.

Bin Sulayem said that work is underway to implement a huge project to transform Rashid Port to one of the most attractive destinations for maritime tourism in the world, the first in the Middle East and North Africa, MENA, in terms of number of visitors and infrastructure that reinforces its position for this type of tourism.

Within the framework of cooperation and partnership's efforts, a meeting was recently held to discuss the future strategy to attract a greater number of tourist ships and plans to strengthen the contribution of marine tourism in supporting the growth of the tourism sector of the emirate in general, in line with Dubai's Vision 2020 to attract 20 million visitors.

The meeting was attended by Major General Mohammed Ahmed Al Marri, Director of the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Dubai, Helal Saeed Almarri, Director-General of the Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing, DTCM, and Director-General of Dubai World Trade, DWTC, and Ahmed Mahboob Misbah, Director of Dubai Customs, along with a number of senior officials.
