10 jobs which do not need college degree

We have grown up in a society that has taught us all along to believe in the power of education. And, nothing is more sacrosanct than that. Education is the passport to success. The more degrees you have from prestigious institutes you are more likely to go higher in life.

But, that doesn’t mean you will be squeezed out of the job market if you don’t have flashy degrees. Job website has listed its best jobs without a degree for 2014 and some of these are respectable jobs with decent salaries. Here are some of them.

Commercial Pilot: The usual qualifications needed to begin training as a pilot are a minimum of five GCSEs and two A-levels, according to www.prospects.ac.uk. A degree or postgraduate qualification is not required although some people may choose to take one to make them stand out in the tough competition.

The training to become a pilot requires a good level of understanding of math and physics and so any qualifications that demonstrate this may be of an advantage.

But to work as an airline pilot you must meet the requirements of the airline you wish to work for.

For example, to become a pilot in the country you need to have a minimum of 4000 hours total flying time (may include 25 per cent P3 or FEO time to a max of 500 hours). A minimum of 2,000 hours multi-crew, multi-engine jet aircraft (P3 time cannot be used) is required.

You must hold a valid ICAO ATPL, should be fluent in English language; ICAO English level (4 or above) are some of the requirements.

Administrative Assistant:
A degree is not mandatory for a job as an executive administrative assistant but it will make you more competitive in the job market.

You need to have good writing and communication skills. Good knowledge of math will help with expense reporting, and computer literacy on the latest programmes and technology is needed.

Computer Service Technician: Educational requirements for aspiring computer support technicians can vary depending on the nature and level of work. A high school diploma with applicable experience can suffice in some instances, while training received via an associate's degree is necessary for other openings.

Dental Hygienist:
The minimum educational requirement for work as a dental hygienist typically consists of a 2-year certificate programme or associate's degree programme in dental hygiene from an institution. Programme applicants must have a high school education.

Medical Records Technician: To qualify for a job as a medical records technician, a postsecondary certificate or associate's degree is required. Aspiring medical records technicians can earn certification as a Registered Health Information Technician and Certified Tumor Registrar.

Registered Nurse: You can become a registered nurse by earning an associate's degree in nursing or a diploma from an approved nursing programme. Once reaching this level of education, additional credentials can be required by different employers.

Respiratory Therapist:
To become one you need to take all college entrance-required high school courses. You will need acceptance to at least a two-year higher education programme.

You should also complete as many courses in biology, health, health occupations, math and science as possible.

Skincare Specialist: A common requirements to become a skincare specialist is a high-school diploma and postsecondary vocational training. No experience is necessary for entry-level positions but you need strong customer service skills and the ability to sell products.

Web Developer:
Training in various web-building disciplines is required for aspiring web developers. This includes HTML, CSS, Javascript and other coding techniques, as well as some graphic design. Most can be obtained through associate’s programmes.

Retail Buyer: Education required is a high-school diploma but criteria may vary with the employer. You can earn certain certificates, including a Certified Purchasing Professional and Certified Professional Purchasing Manager credential to boost your career.
