The ring-leader of a gang of robbers who illegally entered the country and began posing as beggars to conceal their plans has been arrested by the Department of Criminal Investigation, Ras Al Khaimah.

Identified as HAA, aged 35, the man whose nationality has not been revealed is accused of committing many crimes, including robbing stores and travel agencies.

A joint operation, involving police in Dubai, Sharjah and Ajman, led to the arrest of members of his gang.

Colonel Abdullah Ali, Director, CID, Ras Al Khaimah, said the gang members arrested stated that he was the mastermind of all the robberies committed by them.

In fact, the gang leader had an extensive modus operandi that included bringing some of his men into the country despite them being previously deported, ironically, for begging.

A police team then launched a manhunt and the man was arrested in Ajman.

Investigations showed the 10 defendants entered the country illegally and began as beggars.
