20 accused of killing Sharjah shop owner

Twenty men are on trial in Sharjah on charges of killing an Asian owner of a watch shop after one of them was caught stealing a watch.

The 20 were charged of attacking the shop in Rolla market with knives and other sharp objects and smashing its contents before stabbing the owner and a worker.

The attack came after one of the defendants was caught stealing a watch, triggering a fight with the owner, who managed to recover the item.

“The man threatened to come back to the shop and teach the owner a lesson. The owner thought it was just a threat,” 'Al Bayan' daily said.

A few hours later, the man came back with 19 men and attacked the shop with knives and sharp objects, the paper said, adding that the owner was killed and his worker was seriously injured during the attack.
