Three African men and a woman have been jailed for stealing jewellery and watches worth more than Dh million belonging to a Bahraini businessman.

The Dubai Criminal Court sentenced men to one year jail and three months to the woman.

According to the accusation sheet, MK, 38, Senegalese, and two Guineans identified as AC, 42, and AD, 34, climbed the fence of the villa of TA, 40, Bahraini businessman in Jumeirah 3 and stole two safes and jewellery and watches of total value Dh6m.

FT, 34, Senegalese woman was accused of possessing the stolen items.

According to the arraignment sheet, prosecutors said the three men used screwdrivers to enter the villa, broke a glass door and stole the safes from the bedroom.

The victim testified that he and his wife had left Dubai on September 25 and on October 8, his brother-in-law informed him that his villa was burgled, TA testified before the Prosecution.

“My brother-in-law told me that the watchman of the compound saw a red carpet and a bed sheet in front of the gate. He suspected it a theft and notified the police.

“On last October 11, I returned to the UAE and checking the villa I found out that a person or more broke into the villa by smashing glass door and stole two safes. The big, heavy and strong safe could not be stolen or broken. But the thieves entered the other room and stole the other two safes and jewellery and watches worth Dh6 million,” he told prosecutors.

A policeman testified that after investigating the modus operandi, the force identified MK as one of the suspects.

"We tracked him down through the plate number of the car which was allegedly used in the theft. The other suspects who were outside the country were arrested at the airport upon their return to Dubai. We recovered some of the stolen items which were found in their possession," the policeman claimed.

FT denied the accusation while the other three accused MK, AC and AD asked the court Presided by Judge Hamad Abdul Latif Abdul Jawad to provide them with a French language translator to be able to understand the accusation.
